Kjerstin Gruys, PhD – Dissertation Consultant
Kjerstin Gruys is a qualitative sociologist, author, and body justice activist. Her academic research broadly explores the relationship between physical appearance and social inequality, with a particular focus on gender as it intersects with body size, race/ethnicity, class, sexuality, and age. Her peer reviewed research has been published in the journals Social Problems, Gender & Society, Sex Roles, Sociological Forum, and Social Science & Medicine, among others. She also has extensive experience writing and publishing for non-academic audiences, and is frequently quoted by USA Today, TIME, and the New York Times as an expert on gender inequality and contemporary women’s issues. She is passionate about helping students produce theoretically vibrant narratives of our social world.
