Eko Canillas-Myles, EdD – Dissertation Coach
Eko Natividad Canillas-Myles, M.A.Ed., Ed.D. is a non-profit professional and educator. Her background includes developing educational programming and services, which build capacity and create access for individuals, communities and organizations to meet their goals. Her experience includes implementing out-of-school and educational programming for K-12 students, teaching courses on diversity, learning and performance at the post-secondary level, managing leadership development and career exploration programs and directing student-centered, equitable learning opportunities in health education. Eko earned her doctoral degree in Education Psychology from the University of Southern California Rossier School of Education. Her dissertation focused on the use of cognitive task analysis to identify the critical information omitted when experts describe surgical procedures. The purpose of her work was to contribute to studies focused on improving instruction, learning and performance in high-stakes professions and environments. Eko’s professional strengths include program/curriculum design and development, advanced knowledge of learning and motivation theory, and over 15 years of using coaching and mentoring to positively affect learning and performance (including being sought out to serve on dissertation committees). Eko is committed to supporting diverse learners and values strengths-based and holistic approaches to academic support.
