Alison holds an M.A. and Ph.D. in Social Psychology with a minor in Quantitative Psychology from The Ohio State University. Her research interests include attitudes, persuasion, online discourse, and the impact of AI on community. Since 2014, Alison has worked closely with doctoral students at various stages of the dissertation process, serving on dissertation committees and as a dissertation chair. She is passionate about learning what excites students about their research—what they seek to understand and how they aim to contribute to their field’s body of knowledge. Alison is highly experienced in guiding doctoral students through the planning stages of their projects, helping them formulate specific, compelling research questions and identify appropriate research methods and designs. In addition, she provides support during the analysis and interpretation stages, assisting students in determining which statistical techniques best align with their research questions and data, and helping them make sense of their statistical findings. Alison is well-versed in open-science practices, including registered reports and the pre-registration of hypotheses and analysis plans. With extensive experience in presenting and publishing quantitative research, Alison is equipped to help students navigate the complex and often demanding process of completing a quantitative project. She understands that this work can be challenging and taxing—but offers encouragement and support every step of the way.
